Curator writing:
During the course of life, we often become fixated on finding purpose; and if we are fortunate enough to do so, we often forget that the process of finding purpose can be cyclical. This Meaning, overlooking the process of repurposing one's intent can be a missed opportunity at finding new life. Marie Anine Moller's latest solo effort, The Sharpest Tools in the Shed, embraces the very concept of extended life and adopting a new sense of value. There are no endings, only new beginnings. Curated by Akeem K. Duncan and Aura Ali, The Sharpest Tools in the Shed is a gathering of works by Moller that explores and implements creative upcycling in a brilliant way that speaks to more than just the eye.
Moller points out that her work "dissects the complexity both individual, cultural, and commercial." The practice consists of more than just simply reusing found objects. Featuring Moller's signature series, Rocks in a Glass House, as its centerpiece, the exhibition also inquires about the nuance of narrative, how it relates to the intrinsic nature of an object and ultimately how that relationship can mirror the one that we cultivate within ourselves.Møller has previously exhibited at, among others Compass Gallery, Glasgow, CGK Gallery, Photographic Center and Arden Asbæk Gallery in Copenhagen. In America her exhibitions include Upstate Art Weekend and UNTITLED Art Fair, Miami with NYC gallery and event space Beverly's, SPRING/BREAK Art Show, New York with Field Projects and The Locker Room, NY.
